Who We Are
Since 2019, U-INSPIRE Indonesia has been working to accelerate youth participation in disaster risk reduction through science, technology, and innovation.
After years of intensive growth, we are entering a new chapter — strengthening our foundation, improving internal capacity, and transforming into an ecosystem that creates measurable impact.

Our Members
U-INSPIRE Indonesia is powered by young people and young professionals who put Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI) to work for disaster risk reduction.
Our members—primarily aged 16–40—bring expertise from engineering, earth sciences, computer science, communication, public health, sociology, environmental studies, education, the arts, and many other fields. That mix is intentional: interdisciplinary collaboration is how we design solutions that are both innovative and inclusive for communities across Indonesia.
As a volunteer-based network, U-INSPIRE invites members to contribute knowledge, skills, and ideas through joint projects, capacity building, research, community engagement, and innovation initiatives. By linking expertise across sectors and regions, we work toward a safer, more resilient future—together.
Today the community reaches 23 of Indonesia’s 38 provinces, reflecting our commitment to empowering youth and growing collaboration nationwide.

From local data to local action
Many disaster risks are highly localized. We build affordable monitoring tools so communities can collect, understand, and act on their own environmental data—combining IoT sensors, open data, and community participation for early action.

Low-cost flood monitoring by turning discarded smartphones into river water-level sensors for community early warning.

Making disaster risk easier to understand
Data is most useful when people can read it clearly. We use geospatial tools to visualize risk, support planning, and encourage preventive action—linking science, technology, and public engagement.
